What it is, and what it is for
ROCKSOLAR 600 W 12 V / 24 V Wind Turbine with MPPT Hybrid Controller
A 1.6 m (63 in) rotor wind turbine with a three-phase permanent-magnet generator and a hybrid MPPT controller that takes both the turbine and a solar array into one 12 V or 24 V battery bank. It is for the sites where solar alone falls short: a coastal or ridge-top cabin, a boat on a mooring, a ranch or remote workshop, where the wind blows at night and through the winter when the panels are idle.
What to expect. The 600 W rating is at 13 m/s (29 mph), which is a strong wind; the turbine starts turning at 2.5 m/s (5.6 mph) and produces usefully from about 5 m/s (11 mph). At an average site with 10 to 12 mph winds a turbine this size adds roughly 1 kWh a day to the bank, and much more in a storm. It is a supplement to solar, not a replacement, and it needs a clear, elevated position: the top of a guyed tower or mast at least 30 ft up and well above nearby roofs and trees.
What's included: the turbine head (generator, hub and nylon-fibre blades, 3- or 5-blade), the tail, and the MPPT hybrid wind/solar controller. The tower or mast, guy kit, cable and battery bank are not included. The head yaws to follow the wind and furls out of it when it blows too hard; survival rating is 40 m/s (90 mph). Tower, wiring and grounding are for reference; a licensed electrician should make the connections, and check local rules on tower height.

Before you order.
If yours isn't here, ask an engineer. It costs nothing and it's the step most people skip.
What if I'm not sure this is the right product?
Ask before you order. Send us what you need to run, or your pool or well figures, and an engineer will confirm the choice — it costs nothing. Or use the finder below, which sizes from what you actually run and shows its reasoning.
