Micro Inverter
Microinverters convert each panel's DC to grid AC on the roof, one per panel or per pair, so there is no high-voltage DC string, rapid shutdown is built in, and one shaded panel affects only itself. They suit small and mid-size grid-tie arrays, complicated roofs and installs you want to grow a few panels at a time.

Enphase IQ8 units (325 W to 475 W per panel) are the widest-supported single-panel option. Hoymiles HMS-400, HMS-1000 and HMS-2000 take one, two or four panels each, with the HMT-2000 for 208 V three-phase. APsystems DS3 takes two panels at 880 W, and the QT2 handles four on three-phase. Match the microinverter's input range to your panel's wattage and voltage.
Microinverters need a gateway or monitoring bridge from the same maker to report data, and the array also needs the maker's AC trunk cable and an AC disconnect; ask us for the parts list for your panel count.
