ROCKSOLAR 60 A MPPT Solar Charge Controller
A 60 A MPPT controller for a 12 V, 24 V, 36 V or 48 V LiFePO4 or lead-acid bank, rated for 720 W of panels at 12 V, 1,440 W at 24 V and up to 2,800 W at 48 V: a cabin, a workshop or a large RV roof running a fridge, pump and inverter loads. An MPPT controller tracks the panel's maximum power point and converts the surplus voltage into extra charging current, which is worth 20 to 30 percent more harvest than a PWM controller, most of it on cold, bright days and whenever the panel voltage sits well above the battery voltage.
Choose this one when the array is over about 500 W on a 12 V bank or over 1 kW on 24 V, for a 48 V bank up to 2.8 kW of panels, or when you expect to add panels later. It has a load output with light-control sensing (on at dusk, off at dawn) for a yard light or sign. Above that size, a hybrid inverter with a built-in MPPT is the next step.
Keep the array's open-circuit voltage under the controller's PV limit on the coldest morning of the year, wire extra panels in parallel rather than in series, and fuse the battery side. Mounting and wiring are for reference; a licensed electrician should make the connections on a permanent installation.
