Before you order.
If yours isn't here, ask an engineer. It costs nothing and it's the step most people skip.
Does it work with a salt water pool?
No. ROCKSOLAR pool pumps are for fresh water only, and that includes any pool run on a salt chlorine generator, which is salt water even at a fraction of sea strength. If your pool is salted, this is not the right pump for it. Ask us first and we will point you to something that suits.
DC only, or the AC/DC hybrid?
The DC pump runs on solar in daylight, which is when a pool wants circulating, and is the simpler and cheaper choice. Choose the AC/DC hybrid only if you want the pump to keep running from the grid at night or on dark days — it switches over on its own and back to solar when the sun returns. If you don't need that, you don't need the hybrid.
How do I know it is the right size for my pool?
By gallons. Each pump is rated for a pool size — the title says which — on the basis of turning the whole volume over once in about eight hours of sun. Match it to your pool's volume, and if you are between sizes take the larger one. The finder sizes it from your pool's dimensions, filter and pipework.
Will it fit my existing plumbing?
Check the port size in the specification against your pipe — the listing gives the inlet and outlet diameter. Keep the pipe at least as large as the port, or the pump has to push against its own plumbing.
Are the panels included?
In a kit, yes: the panels, their mounts, the cable and the combiner box are in the box. A pump-only listing is for a pool that already has panels or a solar system to run it from.
What if I'm not sure this is the right product?
Ask before you order. Send us what you need to run, or your pool or well figures, and an engineer will confirm the choice — it costs nothing. Or use the finder below, which sizes from what you actually run and shows its reasoning.
